These knives magnet consists of a solid wooden ' bar ' with a magnetic strip inside. This strip is softer than a ' normal ' knives magnet, leaving no risk for damaging the knives. And because the whole strip is magnetic, the knives can be placed on any desired location on this strip.
The wood of this knife magnet is heat treated beech wood. This is insensitive for elongation and shrinkage. The wood is 'baked' at a temperature between 180 and 220 degrees Celsius, giving it this dark chic look. The wood is completely impregnated by this treatment, making it impervious to water.
