It’s Marco Polo once again! Ice cream seems to have originated in China, nearly 4,000 years ago. It was first made with rice, milk, spices and ice and it wasn’t until the 17th century that Marco Polo took the recipe to Italy. From then on, its popularity gradually spread, until becoming a mass consumption food in the 20th century.

There is a large variety of ice cream available but, broadly speaking, we can classify the different types into ice cream made of milk, water or non-lactic fat. The first group is the largest. It includes American, Italian and non-fat ice cream, among others. There is an ice cream for any taste and moment!
